Originating from the heritage town of Pipili in Odisha, India, these are handcrafted by skilled artisans using techniques passed down through generations. Each Chandua is meticulously created by cutting, layering, and stitching colourful fabric pieces into striking motifs inspired by nature, mythology, and everyday life. Historically, this craft was closely associated with the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri. Artisans from Pipili created ceremonial canopies, umbrellas, banners, and decorative coverings for the magnificent chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
